Searching a Few Bibles at Once

When you use the Bible Search dialog you'll notice you can search one Bible at a time or all of your Bibles. What if, however, you want to search more than one, but not all of your Bibles? For example, you only want to search the ESV, NKJV, and KJV.

You have two options:

First, you could open onto the screen those three Bibles.
Then in the Bible Search dialog select All Open Bibles from the Bibles drop down list.

Or you could choose Tools | Define Collections to create a collection with those three Bibles in it.
Then in the Bible Search dialog select that collection from the Bibles drop down list.

Inserting Hyperlinks into Sermon File Documents

If your own the Sermon File Addin (SFA) you can insert your own hyperlinked hotspots to any specific location in a Libronix resource. Here's all you do:

  • Open the Libronix resource to the desired location for which you wish to create a link
    Choose Favorites
Select either Copy Sermon File Link or Copy PBB Link to the Clipboard
Go to your SFA document and paste the link into the Sermon or Illustration Text pane on the left

If you look in the Sermon or Illustration Preview pane on the right you'll see your hotspot!

Making Bible Hyperlinks in the Sermon File Addin

If you own the Sermon File Addin (SFA) you know that when you compile your sermons and illustrations all of the Bible references are automatically hyperlinked. In other words if you have John 3:16 or Jn 3.16 it becomes a blue hotspot to jump to that verse.

What if, however, you say something like this in your original sermon document:

Please turn in your Bible to John 3. Look at verse 16.

John 3 will be hyperlinked but verse 16 will not be. The reference has to be recognizable to automatically be hyperlinked.

The work around is to type this in the left hand Sermon or Illustration Text pane of the SFA document:

Please turn in your Bible to John 3. Look at [[verse 16|bible:Jn 3:16]].

You can hyperlink any text to a Bible verse with this formula:

  • Enclose the entire formula in double brackets
Type the text as you want it to appear in the compiled document
Type the pipe symbol ( | ) which is usually above the backlash above the Enter key on the keyboard
Type the recognizable Bible reference to the right of the pipe.

Cycle Open Windows with Ctrl + Tab

A handy Libronix keystroke to remember is Ctrl + Tab which cycles you through the open windows on the screen (by the way: Alt + Tab is a Windows keystroke that cycles you through open programs). If, however, you have minimized a window with the first of the three buttons in the upper right hand corner of the resource window, then that minimized window will not be part of the cycle.

To include that window in the Ctrl + Tab cycle just manually resize the window with your mouse rather than using the minimize button. When the window is activated with the Ctrl + Tab keystroke, use the middle of the three buttons in the upper right hand corner to restore up and restore down the window. Using this middle button enables the window to remain a part of the cycle.
