Sermon File Addin Index
This is a continuation of blogs devoted to the Sermon File Addin (SFA). As mentioned previously the SFA allows you to incorporate any text (not just "official" sermons and illustrations) into your Libronix e-library so you can easily retrieve the information when you need it. The primary means of accessing your information is through the SFA index.
For example, create a new or open an existing Sermon File document from either File | New or File | Open. In the open document's window notice in the details section four areas:
Passages
The biblical passages you enter are added to the Scripture Index for your two SFA books. These are not the passages that are mentioned in the text itself. They will automatically be hyperlinked. These passages answer the question: What passages are dealt with in a significant way in the content of this material? You can enter as many passages as you like just make sure each is separated with a semi-colon.
Topics
The words you enter here answer the question: What subject(s) are covered in the content I'm adding to the book? Is this story about heaven? Is this sermon about faith? Is this quote about hope? Enter as many topics as you like just make sure each is separated with a semi-colon.
Tags
This Tags field is basically another Topics field that has been added for our convenience. Use it as you desire entering words just as you did in the Topics field. You may want to use it for sermons, illustrations, etc. that are for last 30 Minutes or 60 Minutes or are suitable for Women's Bible Study or Men's Retreat.
Date
Since the SFA is personal filing system you can keep up with when and where you used the content. Just click the Calendar button and select a date. To enter the Location just type it in the box.
When you click Compile all of the information in the fields will be entered in the appropriate index: one for you're your sermon book and one for your illustration book.
To access the index:
- Open one of your SFA books.
- Click the Contents Pane icon on its toolbar.
- In the Contents Pane on the left of the window scroll down to the very bottom.
- Click the plus sign next to Index to reveal the various sections of the index. You'll notice that the contents of the index correspond to the sections on the Sermon File document window.
- Click an entry in the Index to move your book to that location.
