Use the Pipe in Bible Reading Plans

A recent e-mail from a Logos user prompted this tip. In the Bible Reading Plan she wanted to be able to read a Psalm from five different groups of Psalms and a Proverb every day. For example, on Day 1 she wanted to be able to read Psalms 1,31,61,91,121 and Proverbs 1. On Day 2, Psalms 2,32,62,92,122 and Proverbs 2 and so on. Believe it or not the Bible Reading Plan will produce such a plan.

  • Choose File | New | Bible Reading Plan to create a new plan.
  • Type this in the Passage box: Psalm 1-30 | Psalm 31-60 | Psalm 61-90 | Psalm 91-120 | Psalm 121-150 | Proverbs

You'll notice the "pipe" ( | ) between each grouping. This is the all important key. For each day's reading Logos takes a passage from each group sectioned off with the "pipe" symbol.

  • If you just want to read a Psalms and a Proverb a day type this : Psalms | Proverbs.
  • To read from the Pentateuch and gospels each day type this: Genesis -Deuteronomy | Matthew-John

You get the idea. Have fun and create whatever specialized plan(s) you need!

Comments

Any way to link a Bible Reading Plan to my email so it emails me the daily readings each day? I currently receive emails from www.FreeBibleEmail.com. This helps me tremendously as it goes to my inbox no matter where I am (at my computer with Libronix, or traveling). It also sits in my inbox nagging me to read it if I miss a day or two so I eventually catch up and stay on track. But it would sure be great to customize the reading plan like you show here, but I still want it emailed. Any suggestions? Thanks!

In Him,
Rob

What am I doing wrong?
I set up the reading plan as you suggest, but on Day 1 I get a prompt for "Ps. 1:1-2:6; Ps. 31:1-18; Ps. 61:1-62:12, etc." NOT "Ps. 1, 31, 61, etc."
In PROPERTIES: "Timeframe" is set to "30 Sessions"; and "Options" is set at "Chapter boundary."

Is it possible to set up to read through the Old Testment once and the New Testament twice in a year? It would be nice to do it with one reading plan rather than two.

Is it possible to have a verse of Proverbs at random - preferably in a pop-up window in Libronix or even better, on my desktop??
