Searching Journals by Reference

I have received several e-mails recently asking various questions about the Theological Journal Library (TJL). So today I’ll show you how to search them for a biblical passage.

Bible Reference Search

As with all Libronix resources you can search the journals for every time a specific verse is mentioned:

  • Open the Reference Browser from the Go menu
  • Set the In list to desired journals
  • Select Bible as the Type
  • Type a Bible reference in the Find box like 2 Tim 3.16 or Romans 7:9
  • Select your desired Match option
  • Click Search
  • All of the occurrences of your passage are listed. Click one to jump to that location.

Thanks for the excellent tip!

I have not used the Reference browswer before, I have always used the "Advanced Search" dialogue. Is there any way to get the contextual results because when you have a text like "John 3:16" you end up with so many results if you search against the whole TLJ that it becomes less helpful when all you have is an article header to click on.

Thank You
