Using Auto-Lookup

Scattered throughout Libronix are numerous automated reports, none more practical than Auto-Lookup. This report does what its name says: it automatically looks up references for you. I’ll show a couple of helpful ways to use the report:
Lookup Footnotes

  • Open the NET Bible which is filled with numerous footnotes (green text) some of which are too long to view in the temporary popup window which appears when your hover the cursor on the green text
  • Select (highlight) a range of verses containing footnotes such as John 3.16-21
  • Right click on the highlighted range of verses
  • From the right menu select Auto-Lookup

All of the footnotes appear at one time in the Auto-Lookup window for your viewing pleasure!
Lookup Bible References

  • Open a book containing numerous blue Bible cross references such as Naves Topical Bible
  • Select (highlight) the text with the Bible references
  • Right click on the highlighted text
  • From the right menu select Auto-Lookup

Using your Preferred Bible the Auto-Lookup window displays all of your verses!

Copying Biblical People

When you generate a Passage Guide (PG) report one of the sections you may see is Biblical People (BP). BP is an automated report that displays a relationship graph of anyone mentioned in your passage.

To open the report just click one of the ovals (nodes) containing someone's name. The report builds for the name of the person you clicked.

To copy this image to another program like PowerPoint right click in a blank white area near the BP report and select Copy. Go to the other program and Paste the image (Ctrl + V).

Choosing the Bibles on the Passage Guide

When you generate a Passage Guide (PG) report one of the sections you may see is Compare Versions which contains a subsection called Clustering by Word Choice (CWC). CWC is a report which compares and contrasts the passage under study in various Bibles. Here's how you can control the Bibles that appear in this report:

  • Choose Tools | Options | KeyLink
  • Select Bible from the Data Type drop down list
  • From the list of Default Order of Resources click on your desired Bibles one at a time and then click Promote

This places your Bibles in the top box and will then be used by the CWC on the PG.

Jump to Bible Word Study from the Exegetical Guide

The Exegetical Guide's (EG) "claim to fame" is that it looks up the original Hebrew or Greek word meanings from any Bible text. If you use a Hebrew or Greek Bible (the KJV or NASB will not work with this feature) in the EG you can easily jump to the Bible Word Study (BWS) report for any word. In the Word by Word section of the EG just click the Hebrew or Greek word to the left of the brief glossary definition and the BWS report opens for that word.

Customizing the KeyLinks in Bible Word Study Report

In the Bible Word Study Report is a section called KeyLinks. This section provides links to your dictionaries for the word under study. Click the title of the book to lookup your word in that dictionary. Here's how you can customize the list of dictionaries so they appear in the order you desire:

  • Choose Tools | Options | KeyLinks
  • Select a Data Type for the drop down list (you'll repeat these steps for three major Data Types of English, Hebrew and Greek)
  • In the bottom box is the Default Order of Resources that the KeyLinks section uses
  • Select a title in the list and click Promote which places the book in the top box
  • Repeat the above step for the books you desire.

By clicking Promote you're moving your favorite books to the top of the list. The KeyLinks section of the Bible Word Study report will use the books in the top box before it searches the books in the bottom box.

Pausing a Search in an Automated Report

Different sections appear in the automated reports of Libronix. For example, in the Bible Word Study report you may see: Definition, KeyLinks, Greek Root Words, Grammatical Relationships and so on. When you generate a report each section begins searching for its appropriate information. Some sections take longer to complete than others. You may not need each section every time you generate the report.

The solution is to pause the section's search. Notice next to each section title the minus ( - ) sign. Just click it and it turns to a plus ( + ) sign. The plus sign indicates that section is not currently searching. To initiate the search just click the plus sign. By utilizing the pausing of a search you'll speed up the report and only display the information you need at the moment. Also, the way you close the report, with the various sections either paused or active, is the way the report opens next time!

Opening Multiple Copies of Red Resource Links

All throughout your Libronix resources are red Resource Links. When you click a red link you’ll jump to other articles in different resources or perhaps in the same book you’re in. For example, in the article for Laodicea in New Bible Dictionary, you’ll see a red link to the article for Ephesus in the same dictionary. When you click it, you of course jump to Ephesus but leave Laodicea. If you want both articles open at the same time just hold down the Shift key as you click the red link. This shortcut opens another copy of the New Bible Dictionary. Now you're in Laodicea and Ephesus at the same time!

Discovering Which Church Father You're Reading

Have you ever had one of the volumes of the Early Church Fathers open and you have no idea which one you’re reading? If you’ve never experienced this before, just open a volume to some random location and you’ll discover you’re lost in a sea of text! Stay calm! A life saver is available. It’s called the Locator Pane. On the resource’s toolbar click the last icon on the right. The Locator Pane appears at the top of the text telling which church father you’re reading. This trick of course works for other books as well.
