Bookmark a Report

Perhaps you already know you can bookmark any location in a resource by opening the book to the desired location and then choosing Favorites | Bookmarks | Set | 1-9.

Did you know however, that you can also bookmark reports? Open a report like the Passage Guide or Exegetical Guide. Now set the bookmark for this report just like you do for a book. For example, bookmark the Passage Guide to Bookmark 1.

Here’s the fun part. Now any time you need to open the Passage Guide just press Crtl + 1 which is the keystroke shortcut for Bookmark 1!!

Open Bibles with the Quick Navigate Bar

A very handy feature in Libronix is a little known toolbar called the Quick Navigate Bar. It is identified as a Go box on the toolbar. If you don’t have this box it can be downloaded for free (from www.mpseminars.com) as a part of the Power Tools Addin.

With the Go box installed you can use it to quickly open any Bible. All you do is type a Bible abbreviation in the box and press the Enter key. For example, type ESV, KJV, NASB95, etc. Now press the Enter key and the Bible opens.

Search Barclay Commentaries by Topic

If you own the Daily Study Bible Series commentary by William Barclay you know what an outstanding job he does with history and culture. Normally we use his commentary alongside a passage we’re studying. For example, if we’re researching John 10 we open his commentary on John.

We can, however, also use his commentaries topically. For example, let’s say we’re studying the subject of the Jewish feasts. Barclay has a lot to say about feasts all throughout his works. Here’s how to locate those occurrences.

First, from the Tools menu choose Define Collections and group all of Barclay’s commentaries into a collection. Now open the Topic Browser form the Go menu. Set the in box to your new Barclay collection. Type feast in the Find box. Click Search. Click feasts from the Topics list and you’ll now see all the articles that discuss this subject.

Subject Index

In the back of many print books is a subject or topic index. You know how it works. Lookup a subject like heaven and all the page numbers where the subject discussed is listed. In Libronix, you have the equivalent and more of this subject index. It’s called the Topic Browser. It can be found on the Go menu or the toolbar or opened with the keystroke Ctrl + T.

When it opens set the In box to the books you wish to search. Type in the Find box a word. This is the subject you would normally lookup in a subject index. Click Search. All of the topics containing your word are listed. Now click a specific topic. All of the places discussing your specific topic are listed! Click an article to jump to that location.
