Moving Toolbars

Your Logos Bible Software comes with a toolbar called Standard. This or any toolbar you create can be repositioned anywhere on the screen. Place your cursor on the gray vertical line at the beginning of the toolbar. When your cursor changes to the double arrow you can drag and drop the toolbar anywhere you like such as a second row or the side of the screen.

Put your Note Files on your Toolbar

When I'm preparing a sermon I create a Note File to house all my research. During my study I get tied of going to File | Open to locate the Note File. Instead I place the Note file on the toolbar so that any time I need it I click an icon and it opens. Here's how you do it. Right click on the toolbar and select Customize and then New. Name the toolbar. With the Category Special selected, click the Command Open (Note File) and click Add. Now click Details. From the Note File drop down list select the one you want to open. Click OK. OK again and then Close. Now click the new icon on your toolbar to open your Note File!

Using Bible Abbreviations

Here's a simple but helpful time saving trick. All throughout Libronix you constantly have to type Bible references. You don't have to spell out the complete name of the Bible book and use a colon between chapter and verse. For example, you don't have to type Romans 8:28. You can type:
Ro to go to Romans 1
Rom 3 to go to Romans 3
Rom 4.5 to go to Romans 4:5
Ro 6 7 to go to Romans 6.7

Many Bibles display the words of Christ in red. There may times however when you want His words in black text (or any other color). To change the color of the words of Christ choose Tools | Options | Bible Tools. Click General. Select a new color.

Retracing Your Steps in Books

When you're studying you'll jump all over the place from article to article and from resource to resource. For example, in a Bible dictionary you may go from Paul to Rome to Peter to Timothy. Sometimes in this journey you'll want to return to a place you've been before. That's where the Back and Forward buttons come in handy. On each resource window's toolbar click the left arrow to go back or the right arrow to go forward one location. Click the small black arrow next to the Back and Forward icons to select a specific location. To be an ultra power user try using the shortcut keystrokes Alt + Left or Right Arrow!

Cycling through Commentaries

I get asked all the time "Morris, what's an easy way to see all of my commentaries for a given passage?" Well, it doesn't get any easier than this shortcut. Open a commentary like The Bible Knowledge Commentary. Take it to Matthew 6:33. Now press the keystroke Ctrl + Page Up or Page Down to scroll alphabetically through the rest of your commentaries for information about Matthew 6:33! (By the way, the left and right arrows on the keyboard will do the same thing.)

Creating a Special Search Page

On the Bible Search dialog is a Range drop list so you can pick which portion of the Bible to search: Old Testament, Paul Epistles, etc. What if where you want to search is not listed? What if you just want to search the Psalms? To the right of the Range drop down list is a white box. Type your Special range right in the box! Of course, abbreviations are fine. For Psalms just type Ps. For Daniel and Revelation type Dan;Rev.
