Search for Mulitiple Words in a Verse

Normally Paul opened his letters with something like grace and peace to you from God our Father. It's very easy to locate all the verses with both grace and peace. Open the Bible Search dialog from the Search menu. In the Search box type grace and peace. Select your Bible and set your Range to Paul's Epistles. You just found all the verses in Paul's letters containing both words! When you perform an "and" search, all terms must be present to be a hit. Try typing grace and peace and mercy to locate the verses with all three words.

Put a Bible in List Form

Most Bibles are written in paragraph form. This format sometimes makes finding individual verses within a paragraph difficult. To help, you can display any Bible in list form. For example open the English Standard Version (ESV) taking it to 1 Corinthians 13. Notice the paragraphs. Choose View | Bible Text Only. Now notice the list form. If you study verse by verse this view will be a great asset. Take note, however, that in Bible Text Only view, the footnotes disappear.

Change the Print Size of a Book

One advantage of e-books over their print editions is that you can alter their appearance! For example, you can change their text size. Open the English Standard Version (ESV) taking it to Psalm 23. On the main toolbar click the Zoom icon. Select a percentage. Instantly you have a large print ESV! This book stays this size even after you close and reopen it. For fun, use the Zoom shortcut keystroke. Press Ctrl + Shift + < or > and watch the text size change!

Finding the Right Illustration

Here's a shortcut to help you locate just the right illustration for your lesson or sermon. First create a collection of all your sermon illustration resources. Choose Tools | Define Collections. Click New and name the collection Sermon Illustrations Books. Now add all of your illustration books to the collection. Some popular ones are 10,000 Sermon Illustrations, Webster's Dictionary of Quotations, and Nelson's Complete Books of Illustrations.  Now when you need a story or quote open the Topic Browser from the Go menu. Set the In box to Sermon Illustration Books. Type a subject in the Find box like heaven. Click Search to see a list of related topics. From the list click a specific topic like heaven to see all the illustrations for that topic. Click on the illustrations one at a time until you find the right one.

Linking Your Window

The "linking" feature allows you to group windows so they'll move in unison. For example, open two Bibles. Click the Links (chain link) icon on each window's toolbar. Select Set A for each. Type a Bible reference in one Current Location box, press Enter and both Bibles will there! Also, try linking Bibles and commentaries to each other! This will save you lots of "page turning" time as you're studying the Bible with a commentary alongside.

Wild Card "?" Search

A helpful Libronix wildcard search is the "?". In Windows applications the "?" represents one character. Choose Search | Bible Search. Type this in the Search box: Jona?. This search locates all five letter words beginning with Jona. The fifth letter can be anything. Use as many questions marks as you desire and place them anywhere. Just remember, for every question mark there has to be a letter. Try typing 15 questions marks to discover all the 15 letter words in the Bible!
